This is our fourth(!) year buying this amazing fruit dried lot, which comes to us from Coope Tarrazú, a well known cooperative located in San Marcos, within the Tarrazú region. CoopeTarrazu has over 54 years of experience and works with over 3,000 coffee producers and 250 mill workers who reside in the surrounding communities in the Tarrazú and Leon Cortes regions. In 2013 the Managing Body of the cooperative decided to invest in its own small farm (2 hectares) to produce experimental lots. The coffees currently being grown and exported from the Tirra farm are honey process and fruit dried (natural). We opted for the fruit dried lot, since it cupped a bit higher and is the more unusual process for Costa Rica. This coffee was harvested from December to March and the small amount of fruit dried that was available just landed in the US (in May)! We are once again one of only a small handful of roasters in the US who have this special coffee!
